How to Make Crispy Keto Fried Shrimp

Heat oil. Preheat the frying oil in a pot or tabletop fryer to 350 degrees F.

Peel and Devein Shrimp. Peel and devein shrimp leaving the tail on and set aside.

Prep shrimp and fry. Whisk together wet ingredients in a bowl then pour dry ingredients into a separate bowl. Once the oil is hot dredge the shrimp in the dry flour mixture then the wet mixture and back into the dry. Shake off any excess flour then fry for 4-5 minutes until shrimp begin to float.

Let shrimp rest. Once the shrimp are fully cooked scoop the shrimp out and place them on paper towels to absorb any excess grease.

Serve. Serve with a dipping sauce of choice and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks for Making the Best Keto Fried Shrimp

Spacing. Do not overcrowd the pan when frying the shrimp. Depending on the size of the pan, I can typically cook about five or six large shrimp at a time.

Overcooking Shrimp. Do not, and I repeat, do not, overcook your shrimp. If you overcook your shrimp, they will get hard and become gummy.

Heat the pan and your oil. Don’t just toss a pan on the heat and add oil and shrimp instantly; you won’t get the best results. To ensure you get the BEST and crispiest shrimp in town, ensure the oil you are working with is hot enough to cook the shrimp fast and create that crispy coating.

Add heat. Sometimes I like to add a little heat to my crispy keto shrimp recipe. To add heat, use about ½ teaspoon of chili powder or cayenne pepper to the mixture for spicier shrimp. Depending on how you like it, you may want to add more.

    Is Shrimp Good for You?

Depending on how the shrimp is prepared, yes, shrimp is good for you!

Shrimp is high in many nutritional areas and can help you maintain good skin, hair, and nails, and can also help prevent cancer and heart disease.

Healthy shrimp recipes are recommended in most diets because when prepared with health at the forefront, they have low-calorie content.

Can I Make Keto Shrimp in the Air Fryer?

Absolutely! If you are like many people these days, you don’t even turn on your oven and that is okay. You can get deliciously crispy shrimp right from your air fryer.

Cooking your keto shrimp in the air fryer is not difficult at all, all you have to do is follow these simple steps:

Preheat your air fryer to 375F and spray your basket with cooking spray.

Cook the shrimp for 3 minutes in the air fryer, then flip them. Then air fry for 3-4 minutes longer, or until done.

Pro-Tip: Make sure you cook in 1 spaced layer. If you pile them in or don’t give them enough space they won’t get crispy.

    Storing Leftovers

Storing crispy keto fried shrimp is easy and you have a few options.

Start by grabbing an airtight container and dump all of your leftover shrimp in.

Once you have done that, decide where you want to put it. If you store your leftovers in the fridge, they will last for about 3-4 days. If you store your leftovers in the freezer, they will keep them for about 2 months max.

When ready to serve up your leftovers, place them in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or toss them in an air fryer for a few minutes until they are evenly reheated.
